| How to lose weight |
| Obesity
is, apart from its unsightly physical qualities, a leading
cause of many illnesses including diabetes, high blood
pressure and heart disease. While we'd like to preach
regular exercise to all women, the reality is that getting
into a regime and sticking with it is much harder to
do than to say. If you want to lose weight, check out
the following. |
Sensible Eating
The best way of reducing weight is to eat sensibly. Know what is
good for your body and what is not. Don't be over strict with yourself-just
take a little less of everything. Avoid buffets because they tempt
you to eat more. Your brain takes 20 minutes to signal that your
stomach is full. All that time you are consuming unneeded calories.
Cambridge Diet
The Cambridge Diet is a low calorie diet which limits you to
1,000 calories per day. It doesn't restrict your intake of proteins,
carbohydrates etc.
Exercise
Exercise does much more than just burn calories. It helps to
prevent the body triggering the starvation or hibernatory metabolic
response. When you feel hungry the body can start to conserve
energy. Not what you want. Exercise will resist this tendency.
However, some people overdo it in an attempt to get slim rapidly.
Many finally give up because it is too tiring. It is not sensible
to expect results in a short period. Additionally, over-exercise
causes our blood sugar level to drop and then we feel hungry,
and guilty!
For the elderly and handicapped, vigorous exercise is not an
option for losing weight.
Also beware of combining a crash diet with on over-strenuous
exercise regime. Whilst this may work in the short term you are
depriving your body of essential nutrients, and over-stressing
joints and ligaments. You'll end up looking and feeling unwell.

Slimming Myths
Super models with their gaunt faces and preternaturally slim frames
send all the wrong messages to our young people. These days we are
persuaded that beauty and emaciation are synonymous.
People are adopting extreme weight control behaviors in the hope
of obtaining that 'perfect size 10' figure. These people look for
some magic formula that will make them slim and attractive. Such
methods include dieting, fasting, induced vomiting, and exercising
to extreme. There is also an increasing incidence of abuse of medications
such as laxatives and slimming pills. These methods are useless and
frequently damaging.
Eating disorders such as Bulimia and Anorexia Nervosa are also on
the increase and this combination of dangerous semi-starvation and
lack of personal esteem can ultimately be fatal.
Ultrasonolipolysis
Our philosophy at 'UNISENSE The Slimming Institute' is to lose
weight and stay healthy. We use a technique called Ultrasonolipolysis
(a form of ultrasound), in which fatty issue is broken down.
A lymphatic drainage treatment follows the ultrasound and this
allows the freed fatty acids to be excreted. It is essential
during the course of the treatment that a person drinks at least
three litres of water a day. In six weeks of treatment you can
trim up to four inches off your figure. Slimming by Unisense
doesn't leave any scars; doesn't require the use of post-treatment
girdles (as is the case with lipo-suction) and doesn’t have any
harmful side effects. "Losing weight is not about looking glamorous
like a movie star, it’s about staying healthy," says Dr. Jean
Pierre Naim, creator of the Unisense treatment.

UNISENSE The Slimming Institute, on the second
floor of Central Festival Phuket is open daily from 11 am to
9 pm, 076-249717-8
