Business: Two Villas

Two Villas People

Q: Could you tell us briefly about your private life? Are you originally from Phuket, and what did you do before starting this business?

Tee: I am a native of Phuket and I graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Bangkok, and I am married to a Phuketian girl named Khun Kwan. We have two children. One is eight and studies at Phuket Thai Hua School and the other is two. I have worked as an architect before.

Kwan: I am Phuketian and I graduated with an MBA from Lindenwood University, USA. I am married to Khun Tee.

Kit: I am a native of Phuket and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University. I used to work as an interior designer. I am married and have one child who is only two months old.

Gos: I am from Saraburi province in central Thailand and I graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology, Ladkrabang. I moved to Phuket in 2000 and before I used to work as an architect. I am still single.

Q: As parents, what are your views on raising your children?

Tee:
My children have been given freedom to think and an opportunity to learn and do everything by themselves. I hope that they will use what they have learned to enjoy a happy and prosperous life. I want them to be creative and be alert to their civic responsibilities.

Kwan:I teach them to be responsible for themselves and to have a good heart.

Kit: I focus on teaching them self-sufficiency.

Q: How was Two Villas formed and what was the inspiration which started the four of you working in collaboration?

Tee:
We have been friends since we were students and our thinking is the same. We wanted to present the ideas of the developer from an architect's point-of-view so we formed a business partnership.

Q: Why did the four of you choose the name "Two Villas"?

Tee:
Because when we started our business, our first project was for two houses.

Kit: From the start our motto was "Good design, great function, and superb team work".

Q: How do four of you assign job responsibilities?

Tee:
We assign work according to our various skills and abilities. I am responsible for real estate investment and management.

Kwan: My job is sales and marketing.

Kit: I am responsible for interior design.

Gos: I do the project management.

Q: What is your work philosophy? How do you manage your business and how do you control your subordinates?

Tee:
I believe nothing is impossible. My philosophy at work is to encourage my subordinates to develop to their maximum potential and to operate as a team in attaining our objectives.

Kwan: Work hard and look after our staff.

Kit: I always give subordinates a chance to think and develop their ability as much as possible.

Gos: Always be considerate and thoughtful to others. The most important thing is teamwork.

Q: Who do each of you hold as heroes?

Tee:
Geoffrey Bawa (Sri Lanka's most prolific and influential architect). I hope I will have a chance to experience his work once in the lifetime.

Kit: The soldiers stationed in the three southern most provinces of Thailand fighting to protect the people.

Gos: All human beings are my heroes.

Q: Where is your residence located? Why did you choose that location?

Tee:
We live in Srisuchart Village.

Kit: Our houses are next to each other and we can walk to work.

Q: Could you tell us about your lifestyle? What do you do in your free time?

Tee:
I like to keep a Low Profile /Hi Quality Consume. At the moment I do not have much free time to be honest but if I do take a break, I watch TV, spend time with the family or go shopping at Central Festival Phuket. I think Central has everything we need. I also like to buy the books on all sorts of subjects.

Kwan: I am an easy-going sort of person. I like going to the temple to find peace of mind. I also like to visit a spa and of course I love shopping. I collect handbags and shoes. I pursue my life thoughtfully and will accept everything which happens whether it is good or bad.

Kit: I like a relaxed and easy environment without too many people around. I do a lot of spare-time activities and I also like shopping at Central Festival Phuket as it is near home.

Gos: I am just easy-going.

Q: How do you see Phuket now, and how has it changed over the years?

Kwan: Phuket is rich in natural resources but it is developing very rapidly. I fear that one may destroy the other. I love Phuket's forests and beaches. It would be a great shame if they were to be sacrificed in the name of development.

Kit: Phuket has changed almost beyond recognition in my lifetime, but I think everything in life goes in cycles. Even if we perceive things as good or bad, we have to accept them and adjust to them. In the end it is a matter of surviving with good grace.
