There’s everything that your eight-year-old could wish for, all supervised by qualified helpful staff, leaving you to have that romantic meal at the nearby MoMo Café with a menu and wine list that would satisfy any hungry parent! Be warned ‘though, when you’ve finished your meal and are all ready to head off home or back to the room, you’ll have difficulty extracting the young ones from the delights of Kids World.
There’s enough fun to be had here for kids to have the time of their lives. I first visited the wet side, where waterslides plunge their excited riders into the pools below and from the sounds that echoed around, there was a gaggle of delighted and enthusiastic kids having a great time, all under the watchful eye of the recreation staff.
The dry side for those slightly less energized kids was no less fun with a
whole range of things to keep them happy. In fact ‘spoilt for choice’ would
be the best description that I could conjure up – wardrobes full of costumes
and mirrors for those wishing to be a princess or superman for the day,
a laboratory for junior science experiments (no they don’t have enriched
plutonium I’m happy to say) and an art and craft corner. The most popular
spot seemed to be the play station ‘tubes’ which looked just like a bee hive
and had the same amount of attraction for kids, as honey for bees! Of course
there’s an Internet corner, as well. They also have a daily activity calendar with
outdoor and indoor projects. There’s even a room filled with loads of plastic
balls for those who want to jump around without fear of getting ‘damaged’. In
Patong they also have more games such as table football and a pool table.

A popular zone is the mini-theatre with carefully chosen movies to while
away the time, provided all can agree on watching the same movie, which is
where the staff helps to make everything work!

The philosophy of Kids’ World is to provide fun and enjoyment for children whilst at the same time, creating a learning environment where they can explore and discover. You wouldn’t believe it, but most of this is a free service for guests and diners. There are charges for some activities such as internet access, but the whole concept is superb, and has been put together by these clever people at Courtyard by Marriott.
Kids’ World is open seven days a week, from 9:00am to 5:00pm and from 6:00pm to 9:00pm – the staff do need an hour off to recover. After all they’ve to look after a common zone, a kids zone from four to 12 years of age, a teen zone for the 13’s upwards, plus a babysitting service for infants! Quite a handful wouldn’t you say?
So next time you’re feeling a bit peckish and the kids are trying to let off some steam, transport them into another world and have the time of your life at the same time.
