Things to do in Phuket if it's raining

From now until October it’s the time of the Monsoon rains. However, unlike the torrential, interminable downpour featured in the famous short story by Somerset Maugham, the title of which we’ve plagiarised above, the rainfall pattern here is intermittent but unpredictable. The secret therefore is to hang loose. If ‘plan A’ is to go to the beach every day, it’s a good idea to have a ‘plan B’ for those damp days. Here are some suggested ‘plan Bs’.

Phuket Aquarium
For those who would like to know more about Phuket’s surrounding waters and its marine life, the Phuket Aquarium will surround you with water without your getting wet. The Aquarium, which is also a Marine Life Research Centre, is located right on the tip of Cape Panwa andis a 13 kilometre drive from Phuket City.
