Sukko Cultural Spa

Sukko means "Beyond Happiness". My first feeling when I stepped through the impressive gates of the Sukko spa was, "I’m in paradise." The Sukko staff are dressed beautifully in traditional Thai style and the spa design, influenced by the ancient Siamese capital, creates a haven of calm yet regal serenity. I felt I had left all my troubles behind.

Chilled out by the soothing background music, my mind was filled with a peaceful wellbeing as I enjoyed the warm traditional welcome (again from Sukko culture) of the ‘Flower Floating Ritual’ – similar to ‘Loy Kratong’, where the idea is to float away past stresses and wish for luck and joy from that moment on.

A variety of 40 spa treatments – prepared by Sukko's certified Thai Herbalist and based on ancient Thai medical theory – is offered at Sukko, in packages lasting from 2 hours to 4 hours. Each package has a specific purpose and can be selected to suit your lifestyle or the way you feel on the day. These herbal recipes and procedures have been handed down through generations and are totally free of petrochemicals, synthetic perfumes or colouring. Some of the herbs and spices are grown in Sukko’s own herb garden and picked just for your treatment, ensuring they are as fresh as can be.

I was pampered with the ‘All-Soother’ package, a 2 1/2 hour experience that left me feeling relaxed and refreshed. This four-treatment combination began with 30 minutes in the steam room and the Jacuzzi, followed by a Thai Turmeric Body scrub designed to soften your skin and awaken your senses. The scrub was followed by a traditional Thai massage, the pressure applied gently but firmly. "Is this pressure okay? Too strong? How are you feeling?" my therapist asked me from time to time. “Mmm… perfect…” were the only responses that seemed to suit how I felt. My last step, which came all too soon, was the Thai Herb Purifying Facial Treatment, using creams and herbs that left my face feeling smooth and glowing – and even looked good enough to eat!

Sukko Spa’s restaurant, Suk Savoey Spa Cuisine, presents a unique concept: "Menu by Blood Types" and "Menu by Element". For those who want to exercise, the Suk Sanan Club provides a myriad of fitness opportunities, including ‘Rue Sri Dat Ton’ (the hermit self stretching), a traditional Thai exercise or, for something more strenuous, try ‘Muay Thai Chaiya’, a traditional and effective art of self-defense. Parents who come to Sukko to relax can leave their kids at Suk Zon Kid's Club, where they will enjoy with a variety of fun yet safe activities.

Sukko Spa, one of Phuket’s most luxurious spas, is located on Chaofa Road just 30 minutes from Phuket International Airport, 10 minutes from Phuket Town, 30 minutes from Kata or Karon Beach and 20 minutes from Patong Beach.
